At Magapor, we are committed to innovation and believe that progress in the swine sector is only possible through education, research, and knowledge transfer. With this goal in mind, in 2012 we signed a collaboration agreement with the University of Zaragoza that led to the creation of the Magapor Chair.
Through this Chair, numerous activities are carried out, such as training, practical workshops, and support for final degree projects. One of the most notable activities of this collaboration is the organisation of various academic and professional competitions, designed to encourage students to develop their skills and knowledge in the field of swine production.
Just for Pigs Photography Contest
Our longest-running contest is the “Just for Pigs Photography Contest”, which will celebrate its tenth edition in 2025. Its aim is to bring the reality of swine production closer to all audiences, recognising both photographic talent and the importance of highlighting the role of the swine sector in society.
Swine Reproduction Ideas Contest: promoting research
The Ideas Competition, which celebrated its second edition this year, reinforces our commitment to innovation. The competition aims to reward the best research proposal in swine reproduction, giving a voice to projects by researchers and research groups.
In this way, the Magapor Chair becomes a platform for supporting new lines of research, encouraging quality scientific production and strengthening the connection between universities, businesses and industry.
Scientific Poster Competition at ITM
As part of ITM, the leading international conference on pig reproduction organised by Magapor, in 2025 we launched the 1st Scientific Poster Competition. This initiative aims to give new impetus to knowledge transfer and the visibility of research work.
The posters addressed topics ranging from reproductive management and best practices to biosecurity, nutrition, animal welfare, genetic improvement and new reproductive technologies. In addition to the cash prizes awarded to the three best entries, the 10 finalists had the opportunity to present their research at ITM, gaining international visibility and presenting their ideas directly to experts and professionals in the sector.
A commitment to the future of the sector
Through these competitions, the Magapor Chair has established itself as an essential tool for promoting talent, supporting research and strengthening collaboration between universities and businesses.
We will soon be launching new calls for entries for our competitions, so stay tuned!
